As we all know we live in a toxic environment which continues to get even more toxic. In a Brown University study, researchers found nearly 23% of women aged 16 to 49 met or exceeded levels for all three environmental pollutants i.e. lead, mercury and PCBs. They found that 56% of women exceeded the median for two or more of these three pollutants. All but 17.3% of women were at or above the level for one or more of these toxic chemicals.
The body normally detoxifies metals with foods containing natural detoxing agents such as sulphur found in eggs, liver, garlic and onions. Other common detoxifying foods are beets, cilantro, and foods high in Vitamin C content. Our bodies’ own detoxifying system is frequently overburdened.
Some of the symptoms and conditions related to heavy metal toxicity are:
-Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and autoimmune conditions
-Mood swings, depression, anxiety, neurotransmitter deficiencies
-Parkinson’s Multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions
-Cancer, Anemia, headaches, low energy, depression, tremors
To find out about ones heavy metal burden, a hair and provocative fecal stool analysis are two of the best methods used.
Taking preventative measures to minimize the accumulation of heavy metals is a key component to manifesting health and should be done on a regular basis.
